FULFILLING A PROMISE

A promise made, A promise kept

“If you let me go, I learn as much as I can about the world I know nothing about. And I come back and help teach other students what I learn. I do as much as I can to help. I promise.”

Children are the future  of our planet. Helping them to become educated could be a way to making our world a better place.

AN OPPORTUNITY CAN CHANGE A LIFE

Every day, impoverished children in Cambodia are dropping out of school because their families couldn’t afford to provide them school supplies. Children throughout the country work in brick factories, sweatshops, rice fields, and other farming plantations so they could help provide income for their families. Worse, orphan kids are often found living on the streets, shinning shoes, selling newspaper, picking up plastic bottles and soda cans to buy food. They are desperately searching for an opportunity. We can change their path. Children belong in school and not in extreme labor environments. We have to support them because we are the only hope that they have. Children are the future of our planet. Together, we can make a difference.

PEOPLE IMPROVEMENT ORGANIZATION

People Improvement Organization (PIO) believes that every child has the right to an education. We believe that through education, we can break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future for the children of Cambodia.

Phymean (founder) and PIO want to: 1. Help Children Find Their Dreams. Many of the children on the garbage dump don’t have faith in the future. At school, Phymean and the teachers encourage the children to have dreams and to develop their interests. 2. Give Children Hope. By seeing the children’s progress and creating opportunities for them to display their talents, Phymean and the teachers show that the children’s situations can change. 3. Give Children Love They Can Depend Upon. Phyean and PIO stay in touch with the children for many years. “They are like my own children,” says Phymean. “I want to see them be successful and happy.”
